Review: Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Natural Eye Cream

Brand Overview:

Weleda has a long history, which goes all the way back to 1921 and the anthrosophy movement and the philosopher Dr. Rudolf Steiner. The anthrosophy movement encourages people to see their body and spirit as linked to our world as part of one holistic system. Steiner and Dr. Ita Wegman developed an approach to health care using natural ingredients that can holistically work with and support our own body’s healing tendencies, and they did so by creating a Biodynamic® garden.

The company was named Weleda after the Celtic goddess of wisdom and healing, and today Weleda has offices in more than 50 countries. Weleda still cultivates their own Biodynamic® gardens, and the company still believes natural ingredients provide what a body needs to be at its best.

Not only does Weleda use natural ingredients, but the company believes in fair trade, and the company has very high standards for the ingredients they use to make their products.

What does the product do?

Weleda wild rose smoothing natural eye cream claims to help both equally moisturise and nourish the fragile skin under the eyes using plenty of all natural ingredients. This promises that it can easily improve your skin along with Almond Oil and Peach Kernel Oil with the additional advantages of Wildrose Seed Oil, the skin should be left looking healthy and feeling soft and supple. It promises to soothe the skin, decrease swelling and minimize the appearance of fine lines to help you appear much more awake and rejuvenated. It actually is ideal for vegetarians to use plus to use by people who use lenses.

Packaging and Price:

The product comes contained within a small white and pink tube which has a white screw top lid. It is easy to dispense the product although a flip top lid may have been a bit more convenient. The cream will cost you around $28.50 for 10ml so it is a pricey product although you only use a tiny amount each time. It can be bought from department stores such as Boots and also from a range of online websites.

Application and Performance:

Weleda wild rose smoothing natural eye cream is pure white in its colour and it has the consistency of a rich cream. The product is fragrance free and the product just smells fresh which I think is a good thing in an eye product as it makes it more gentle. As first, the size of the bottle is worrying when you think of the price but you don’t need to use much of this in order to get the desired results.

The cream feels cool and comfortable on the skin. As you pat the product into the skin, it feels gentle and moisturising. Despite the richness of the cream, it is still easily absorbed so this isn’t a long process. The product hasn’t caused me any discomfort or irritation, although I do take great care not to get any in my eye as I imagine it would sting quite a lot.

The product doesn’t make my skin feel greasy or unclean, and other than a healthy sheen, there is no telltale residue. It doesn’t have any effect on my eye make up so I can apply it as usual. With continued use, my skin has become softer and more supple around my eye. It looks conditioned and there is no dullness or dryness anymore. My puffy eyes are reduces but that may be due to the patting action rather than the cream and I haven’t notice any reduction on my fine lines.
